U5-6 & U7-8 Rec Soccer - Spring/Summer 2012


REGISTRATION CLOSES MAY 18, 2012

Program Objectives:

  • Have fun
  • Learn basic soccer fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, shooting, no use of hands
  • Good sportsmanship and develop self-confidence
  • No tryouts and no players are cut
  • All registered and paid players will be on a team.

Fee:

  • U5/6 Boys/Girls - $50 registration fee
  • U7/8 Boys/Girls - $60 registration fee

Schedule (games and practices)

U5/U6

  • Fridays and Sundays with practice and games from 5:15-6:15 pm or 6:30-7:30 pm
  • Each game night will have both a practice session and a game.

U7/U8

  • Fridays and Sundays with practice and games from 5:15-6:15 pm or 6:30-7:30 pm
  • Each game night will have both a practice session and a game.

Game Format

U5/U6

  • 3v3 with no goalie. Games are two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute half-time.

U7/U8

  • 4v4 with no goalie. Games are two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute half-time.

Practice/Game Dates:

June 1 and June 3
June 8 and June 10 (U5/6 only)
June 9 - SoccerFest (U7/8 only)
June 15 and June 17
June 22 and 24
June 29 and July 1

Uniforms

  • Rec uniforms consist of a green shirt and a white shirt, black shorts, and black soccer socks
  • Players need shin guards, athletic shoes or soccer cleats, size 3 ball, and a water bottle.

U7/8 Team Formation Guidelines

  1. Players are placed on teams by school they attend.
  2. Mankato United will try to place a player with at least one other player from the same school.
  3. Schools with large number of players may have players placed on different teams.
  4. Requests for team/coach placement based on a medical condition will be taken into consideration.

U9-U10 Rec-Plus Soccer - Summer 2012

Program Objectives:

Mankato United participates in the Southern Minnesota Soccer Alliance, which combines a recreational philosophy with limited travel. There are no tryouts and no players are cut.  Players rotate field positions and each player present plays at least 50% of the game except for reasons of illness or injury. The program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills, developing self-confidence, and emphasizes fair play, healthy competition, and fun.

Schedule: Each team must have at least one volunteer coach. Volunteer coaches are essential to the operation of this program. Teams are single-gender and usually practice on weekday evenings. Games are generally on weekends, though there may be an occasional weeknight game. The season generally runs from mid-May to early-July. Games are in Mankato and other communities including Lake Crystal, New Ulm, St. Peter, and Waseca. Travel is an integral part of the Rec Plus experience. Before registering, please consider carefully your commitment to this aspect of the program!

Uniforms/Equipment: Required equipment includes MUSC uniform, which includes a white jersey, a green jersey, shorts, & stockings, shin guards, and soccer or athletic shoes.

U9-U12 Traveling Soccer - Summer 2012


Program

Mankato United Soccer Club (MUSC) participates in traveling leagues organized by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). MYSA offers spring-summer leagues for players Under 9 through Under 12. The traveling program focuses on individual and team excellence, and provides opportunities for players to learn advanced soccer concepts and skills as well as teamwork, self-discipline, honesty, generosity, and self-confidence. Players must be willing to sacrifice and work together for the good of their team, and accept that they may receive unequal amounts of playing time based on their differing abilities to contribute to team needs. 

Fee

Early-Bird Discount - $185 – available through October 16, 2011
Regular Registration - $235 (after October 16, 2011)

– $75 down payment; $55 payments Nov. 1 and Dec. 1
