2006 Summer Rec Program Description
Mankato United offers spring/summer recreational teams for players born 8/1/99-12/31/00 (Under 6) and 8/1/97-7/31/99 (Under 8). There are no tryouts and no players are cut. Players rotate field positions and each player present plays at least 50% of the game except for reasons of illness, injury, or discipline. Kids learn basic soccer concepts and skills, develop self-confidence, and have fun!
Each team must have at least one volunteer coach. Teams are coed and meet on Monday and Friday evenings from late May through June. Each session includes warm-up, practice, and a small-sided game. All sessions take place in Mankato.
Each child should have a parent or other responsible adult present at each session. Registration fee is $40 for Under 6 and $50 for Under 7 and Under 8. Required equipment includes both a green and a white MUSC uniform T-shirt type jersey (see attached order form) shin guards covered by long stockings or sweatpants, and soccer, tennis, or basketball shoes. Recommended equipment includes water bottle and size 3 soccer ball for both Under 6 and Under 8.
2006 Summer Rec Plus Program Description
Mankato United participates in the Southern Minnesota Soccer Alliance, which combines a recreational philosophy with limited travel. MUSC offers teams for players born 8/1/95-7/31/97 (Under 10). Players born 8/1/97-7/31/99 (Under 8) will now be playing in the Rec League and players born 8/1/93-7/31/95 (Under 12) will now be playing in the new Southwest District Competitive C-3 league. There are no tryouts and no players are cut. Players rotate field positions and each player present plays at least 50% of the game except for reasons of illness, injury, or discipline. The program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills, develops self-confidence, and emphasizes fair play, healthy competition, and fun.

Games are on weeknights and/or weekends from mid-May through late June and take place in Mankato and other communities including Lake Crystal, New Ulm, St. Peter, and Waseca. Travel is an integral part of the Rec Plus experience. Before registering, please consider carefully your commitment to this aspect of the program!
Registration fee is $90 for Under 10. Required equipment includes MUSC uniform jersey, shorts, and stockings (available at Scheels Sports; order early to ensure timely delivery), shin guards, and soccer, tennis, or basketball shoes. Recommended equipment includes water bottle and size 4 ball for Under 10.
2006 Summer Competitive Program Description
Mankato United participates in spring/summer competitive leagues organized by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association. MYSA offers leagues for players born 8/1/87-7/31/98 (Under 9 through Under 19). The competitive program focuses on individual and team excellence, and provides opportunities for players to learn advanced soccer concepts and skills as well as teamwork, self-discipline, honesty, generosity, and self-confidence. Players must be willing to sacrifice and work together for the good of their team, and accept that they may receive unequal amounts of playing time based on their differing abilities to contribute to team needs.

Games are on week nights from mid-May through mid-July and take place in Mankato and other communities including Apple Valley, Bloomington, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Rochester, and Winona.
